Today is World Cancer Day. Just about a year ago I had a stroke which ended up finding my cancer at a relatively early stage. A lot (search for ‘stroke’ and ‘cancer’ on this blog for the full gory story) has happened over the last 12 months as I’ve moved from Bristol back to Glasgow to spend some months recovering/recuperating while having my hopefully final treatment before being told I’m in remission. I get the results of this on Tuesday, the day after my 50th birthday. I currently feel like this.
However the point of this blog today is to ask anyone passing to donate to Macmillan; a cancer charity who have been astonishing in how they’ve helped me over the last 11 months. I’d also like to ask if can to drop some donations to The Beatson; a specialist cancer unit here in Glasgow and Penny Brohn, another specialist cancer charity based in Bristol.
Cancer is going to hit most of us at some point and I know I’ve been lucky in the fact I’m still here typing this, but these people need as much help as possible otherwise people less fortunate than me won’t be around in the future.
