The torment of Tommy Robinson

Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, AKA ”Tommy Robinson” was imprisoned the other day after attempting to manufacture a race war by photographing people he shouldn’t during a trial. If ‘Robinson’ had done his homework and gave a fuck, he’d know this but he’s both an idiot and a martyr which makes him exceptionally dangerous when people’s critical facilities have been turned into jelly. Part of the reason for this is thanks to a concerted campaign by a mix of ethnic nationalists, neo-Nazis (or the ‘alt-right’ if you want to soft sell them) and other like-minded extremist groups (not to mention political parties aligning themselves with some or all of this in order to keep power) to change the course of Western democracies.

What’s concerning is that Robinson isn’t just someone to mock and sneer at, though having done that I can say it is fun, Robinson isn’t a Nick Griffin figure but actually seems to be the figurehead the hard/far right have been looking for.  Now the narrative of Robinson’s supporters is that poor wee Tommy was exercising his freedom of speech and the evil paedo loving state police arrested him to stop him uncovering a massive Muslamopaedophilijew conspiracy.

In reality Robinson was aware of what he was doing and as this post from The Secret Barrister makes clear, he knew that (having been warned previously) that trying to film the jury/accused. The narrative of the far-right also ignores the fact that groups like the EDL are riddled with paedophiles because for them, they want to carve a story that only Muslims, or people with different colour skin. Search Twitter or if you can stomach it, the far right forums and the idea of a race war is one that these people are positively tumescent about.

The problem is that although it’s easy enough to ignore, even mock Yaxley-Lennon and his followers, what is worrying is how his extreme views bleed into society so we have an openly racist UK government led by Theresa May deporting people because of their place of birth and ethnicity. We’ve got Ruth Davidson here in Scotland getting where she has by courting extremism while Donald Trump and his children cheer on racists and bigots from the safety of a computer screen so we’ve go extremism on the rise and that’s what scum like Robinson is looking to cash in on.

So as Yaxley-Lennon looks to prison to hopefully suffer, it is down to us to not just make it clear why he’s been sent down to counter the lies being spread, but make it clear that we’re not going to let the bastards win.

What UKIP thought about 100 Days of UKIP

Last night Channel 4 broadcast their mockumentary 100 Days of UKIP, a satirical film about a proposed UKIP government’s first 100 days in power as told via the story of their only Asian heritage MP, played by Priyanga Burford who looks scarily like an old girlfriend of mine from a long, long time ago.

The film itself is pretty poor with only Burford’s performance making it really stand out as a work of fiction, but it does manage to land a few blows upon UKIP, and of course, the people that follow a political party that has scary overtures of a cult about it. It takes a pop at UKIP’s only real policies; pulling out of the EU and immigration with the latter landing a harder blow than the former. The filmmakers make it clear a UK withdrawal from the EU would be devastating for jobs in the UK, but it’s a thread they don’t develop and that’s a pity as it’s where UKIP are incredibly weak. I know Kippers say they’d make new trade arrangements with India, the US and China but they’re never able to answer what extra we’ll make that these countries would want, or indeed, how the UK being independent of any large trading bloc would leave it competing with these large trading blocs.Essentially the UK would be getting the scraps off the table assuming of course it retains the financial service industry that gave Farage his break, or indeed, it managed to diversify it’s economy which hasn’t been something UKIP seem to want to do.

As for the immigration policy the film managed to land some cracking blows, especially by pointing out the logical continuation of raiding businesses and homes in that the authorities would end up targeting non-white people. In fact it’s only extrapolating current coalition policy and threading it through the eye of UKIP’s needle to the point where UKIP get ex-soldiers in as their ‘Purpleshirts’ to do their bidding.

All in all though 100 Days of UKIP missed more than it hit. It could have been a vicious bit of satire that really hurt but it ended up really just mooning UKIP, and confirming the bias of people like myself that despise UKIP’s beige fascism. What it was incredibly successful in doing is upsetting UKIP supporters who are such libertarians that they demand punishment or worse for Channel 4. This hilarious video is about par for the course.

Meanwhile on Twitter they exploded into red-faced impotent anger. The most common types of complaint are this firstly.

100daysofukip

This follows the assumption most of the million or so people watching the programme or even in the UK are going to vote for a party that’s predicted to get anything from 0-5 seats.

The next is hilarious.

100daysofukip1

The sense of victimisation is beautiful. If in the history of TV, there had never been any drama or satire aimed at any other party then they’re onto something but you need to avoid, G.B.H, A Very British Coup, House of Cards, Spitting Image, That Was The Week That Was, Drop the Dead Donkey or any politically based programme that’s been on British TV for the last 50 or so years. All this shows is the lack of cultural and political knowledge as well as the pathetic sense of entitlement that UKIP is somehow being singled out, when in fact it’s not.

Then there’s this.

100daysofukip2

The only people it’s likely to make them want to vote UKIP are those that want to discriminate against non-white people, and that think the EU are Commies or Nazis, it’s hard to tell what Kippers think as thinking rationally seems to be somewhat problematic.

Then there’s Nigel Farage himself. A enigma wrapped in a Arthur Daley coat smelling of beer and tabs. His comments are simply stupefying.

100daysofukip3

Can anyone explain what ‘believing in Britain’ means without making it sound vaguely cryptofascist or why Farage is giving out this Norsefire vibe in his picture?

100 Days of UKIP wasn’t great TV, but it did highlight the incredibly thin skin of a party and it’s supporters that cling onto the hope that they’re going to win the election or be so influential that they’ll be able to decide government policy (predictions put them a long, long way behind the predicted third party, the SNP) from sitting in the snug of the Farage and Fascist.  In reality UKIP may have helped drag Labour, the Tories and Lib Dems to the right, but as a direct influencer of power they could end up failing to register outside of the South East of England, and indeed, Farage himself could yet again fail to be elected for Westminster.

The programme has served it’s purpose in exposing the party to people perhaps thinking of using them as a protest, or indeed, it’s just let people like me laugh at what is an example of the death rattle of a form of nationalism that’s on it’s last legs. Yet we know where UKIP draws much of it’s support from and we know of how there’s a Venn diagram crossover of UKIP and EDL supporters, and hopefully this is something that becomes clearer. Once the purdah period starts in about a month it’ll be staid, bland party political politics from then until May the 8th….

A (hopefully) final word about Joshua Bonehill and the Daily Bale

I’ve been involved in this story about Joshua Bonehill since August when he attacked the Globe pub in Leicester, and this resulted in him being found guilty of malicious communication last month.Yesterday he was sentenced.

Maynard Griffin, chairman of the bench, ordered Bonehill-Paine to complete 180 hours unpaid work, a two-year community order and costs of £145.

That’s right, Bonehill has to pay for his attack on the Globe this way, though the court did say:

Upon sentencing he told the defendant: “It will not hurt to say that another repetition of this type of behaviour could leave another court with little option but to deal with you differently

Considering Bonehill’s online behaviour this is probably going to be sooner rather than later, however the reason why Bonehill isn’t currently sitting in prison (as many including myself feel he should be) is this.

Accompanied by his mother to court, magistrates were told how widespread “provocation” over a long period of time from a number of individuals had led to Mr Bonehill-Paine’s actions.

Michaela Rose, defending, said the defendant accepted the information behind the article was wrong and he had made a “huge error” in sharing the information without checking its truthfulness or validity.

She claimed in the lead-up to the inaccurate article, Mr Bonehill-Paine had been subjected to “disturbing” messages from individuals who had taken a dislike to him – and the defendant believed the Globe pub landlord was part of this internet attack on him.

Miss Rose said: “Mr Bonehill-Paine was completely at fault for what he did and accepts it was inappropriate.

“He responded to some quite extreme provocation by a number of individuals now known to the police. It’s fair to say he was put under a lot of pressure and was encouraged to engage in these ‘tit for tat’ exchanges.

“The hatred shown towards him became quite extreme to the point his address was publicised in a public forum, forcing him to make police complaints and having things put through his letterbox.

“Mr Bonehill-Paine felt the only outlet to express himself and respond to the allegations about him was on social media.”

Magistrates were told that a Facebook page was set up against the defendant entitled “Bail Out – Send This Sick Psycho to Jail” where he was threatened, goaded and jokes were made about what may happen to him in jail.

So there you go. Someone who abused, libeled and attacked people, businesses, not to mention used the murder of Lee Rigby to make himself a local celebrity while seemingly scamming charities has got his wrists mildly slapped because some in the anti-fascist movement played the same tactics against him. Well done guys, I hope you’re all proud. You’ve given him the excuse to get away with it as prison might just have shown him he can’t get away with what he’s done, but now he can voice vaguely false platitudes while yet again pushing his usual bullshit.

“It has been a victory for me personally in the sense that those who have so wrongly agitated me over these past few months have not gotten what they want, that being my imprisonment.

“I will take lessons away from this whole thing and now work to better myself and move forward.

“During my time while standing in the dock, I had a Union Jack Flag in my pocket, a Union Jack tie on my chest and a flame in my heart that burns for patriotism and a love for this country.

“I am sure that through divine belief and my confidence in this trial, I was not imprisoned for that reason.”

I stopped blogging about Bonehill because I realised I was giving him exactly what he wanted which was to feed whatever psychosis he’s suffering from. He’s used the attacks on him on social media as a defence which is frankly, fucked, but it’s clear looking at some of the responses towards Bonehill that they’re almost as bad as some of the shite Bonehill has come up with.

I hope this makes Bonehill think about all the dozens of people he’s hurt. The lives he’s upset and the damage he’s done. I hope his words are genuine and I hope he takes this opportunity to try to repair his life so this doesn’t hang around his neck to heavily for the rest of his life. I’d like to be that optimistic but I don’t see it happening. If he’d any sense he’d stop using Lee Rigby’s murder as a propaganda tool for right wing fascism and racism (something Rigby’s mother strongly objects to people doing) not to mention using the Daily Bale as some sort of mouthpiece for his frothing insanity. If not then he may carry on campaigning for UKIP, but seeing as the EDL have told him where to go I’d imagine he’ll carve himself the niche he seems to want by creating some movement designed to annoy anti-fascist campaigners which will carry on feeding this lad’s insanity.

So I’m going to stop talking about him. People are fee to use any of the blogs I’ve written about Bonehill or the Daily Bale to discuss this but unless there’s anything worth talking about I’m hoping Bonehill does fall off the internet, sorts himself out and gets his life together. I’m hoping protesters move from him and focus on the genuine threats like UKIP and the various fascist/racists infesting the internet.

I hope it’s all over and people move on. I’m hoping I never feel the need to talk about this again.

Joshua Bonehill of the Daily Bale speaks about his arrest

Joshua Bonehill has commented upon his arrest by the police in regards the Daily Bale’s blog libeling the Globe pub in Leicester.

It’s been over three months since my last post on this Facebook account, since having been using my private account and the fact that I had been restricted from using all aspects of social media by the police.

As some of you may be aware, in October and as reported by the leciester mercury I was arrested in relation to the offence of malicious communications, 1988. My home was raided and all equipment subsequently seized.

The offence which was in regards to a post made from right-wing news publication, ‘the daily bale’ is set to be put in front of the courts next month. An article originating from the daily bale website targeted the globe pub in leciester, claiming that it refused to serve forces personell.

Without going into detail about the case against me in current, for the past 3 months of my life I have been through complete and utter hell. My life was turned upside down and I didn’t exist as a person for the said period of time.

As many of you will know, I have been the centre of vile left wing attacks and rumours since my leadership of the peaceful movement, ‘stand strong uk’ which brought the nation together in a day of unity and peace in the aftermath of the death of lee rigby.

Having been attacked by the left-Wing by such evil conspirators such as nick lowles of hope not hate and the anti ukip group, ‘slatukip’, I was driven to the edge and had to deal with abuse as part of my day to day living.

The daily bale and my involvement with this news outlet was only to ever to defend myself and my reputation but unfortunately it has ‘come back to bite me In the arse’.

I am sure the left wing media will be intent on making a spectacle out of my misfortunes with social media and only contribute to the lies, slander and politically correct garbage distributed by nick lowles and further drive my name into infamy as with the 2011 incident in which my name first hit tabloid newspapers.

The truth in all of this is that I am a right wing, working class man who only wants the best for his country. Somehow I have found myself caught up in many a scandal and political misfortune including the scandal in which my former friend mr. A wood was caught on giving a nazi salute whilst standing as a candidate with ukip.

I am sick and tired of political correctness and blatant left-wing brainwashing which is being distributed by newspapers such as the mirror and the guardian and then forced upon us by Internet groups such as hope not hate and and still laughing at ukip.

My country is my heart and I know that I am a patriot and would defend this great nation with all the passion and allegiance I can give.

I understand there is a lot of negative feeling in the left wing spectrum towards me and I am truly sorry for the innocent people that have been caught up in this political war and regret that my words have caused damage to businesses, reputations and livelyhoods.

Joshua Bonehill loves his country and know that whatever my actions were and however they may appear, they were only done in the interests of the British people.

I will not comment any more on my legal case until it is over with in February, all press inquiries can be directed towards me but I ask for privacy from the savage tactics of the daily mirror and left wing journalists.

For britannia.

At this point may I remind the reader of exactly what the Daily Bale and the people behind it are accused of, especially in relation to the vicious libel the Globe pub in Leicester suffered,

The Daily Bale accused the Globe of not allowing servicemen into their pub. This is a lie designed to whip up hate against the pub and the majority of the customers of that pub. They also accused the editor of the Leicester Mercury of being a paedophile, and use the same ‘Hail Britannia’ sign-off Bonehill does here on his own personal Facebook page. You don’t throw around a phrase like ‘hail Britannia’ lightly, especially when it’s clearly so insanely ludicrous and based upon watching that awful film version of V for Vendetta that essentially all your defence is, is actually pandering to bigotry and paranoia.

Here’s the other blogs I’ve written about the Daily Bale, and those rumoured to be behind it.

Josuha Bonehill is still not in prison.

The Daily Bale Has Ceased To Be

The Daily Bale’s attack on the Globe pub in Leicester-An arrest has been made

Which brings us to here. Bonehill was suspected of being arrested, he’s now confirmed that. I must draw readers attention to the lengthy conversation between myself, Maggie Chapman and Alex Wood which is in the comments of the last blog in the list above. Wood asked for me to communicate with him privately, but to hell with that. All my conversations with these people are, and will be in the open. Nothing has been edited in that blog, so read Wood’s words as he distances himself from Bonehill.

I fully believe in a fair trial. Those behind the Daily Bale deserve that, which is more of a courtesy than they gave to their victims. Until then I leave the truth to come out and those behind the Bale to get exactly what they deserve….

2013-That Was the Year That Was

Boxing Day has passed and we’re into the odd twilight that is the time between Christmas and Hogmanay and seeing as everyone else spends this time in the pub avoiding the sales, or even madder, actually in the sales, I’m going to take this quiet time to do a little rundown of the year for my best and worst of the year…

So cracking on let’s leap into this…

Best Overdue Death-Margaret Thatcher.

Without her incredibly overdue death I’d not have written the first post in my blog, or even finally felt a sense of release though at the time I don’t think I would have predicted her becoming such a martyr figure to fucked up sociopathic Tory scum as she has become.

As you can see, there’s still a little bit of my heart blackened with hate for her and especially her spawn.

Best FlounceThe EDL’s Tommy Robinson

Tommy Robinson came into his own after the senseless murder of Lee Rigby which he used as a dragnet to get every snide wee fucked up racist in the country to quietly agree with the EDL’s obvious bigotry. During the summer he hosted an hilarious Q & A session on Twitter, which saw me being blocked by him.

However just as the EDL were at a peak, Robinson flounced off saying they were becoming ‘too extreme’ for him. This set people’s Spidey Sense tingling as frankly. the EDL had been ‘too extreme’ from the fucking off! Still, it’s now hilarious to see the EDL crack and fracture.

Most Annoying Americanism of 2013Calling TV programmes ”shows”.

There was a time when Telly programmes were called programmes. They would be called dramas, serials, kids telly, documentaries, anything. You’d have entertainment programmes that would be called shows. They’d normally be things like Seaside Special which normally featured a paedophile or a Tory (sometimes both) presenting the worst of British Light Entertainment in a tent in the pissing rain during the summer. It was clearly a term relating to certain types of programmes.

Now everything is a ‘show’. Breaking Bad, Football Focus, Doctor Who, Panorama, and I bet if someone did a 12 hour documentary about Auschwitz someone would give it the jolly title of ‘show’. Stop it! It’s lazy.

The Iain Duncan Smith ‘Cunt of the Year’ awardIain Duncan Smith.

In decades to come history will look back at this man and write a terrible history of what he’s done. Sadly too many people will have suffered by them

The Ed Millband Useless Bastard awardEd Milliband

You’re opposition leader against a coalition  people hate. You should be leaping ahead in the poll. No, you’re not because you’re as useful as a Vatican approved condom.

The Jack Whitehall Middle Class Comedian awardJack Whitehall/Everyone on BBC Three/Channel 4

Back in the day comedians came from all walks of life. You’d have a mix of people and this would mean something may have a broad appeal, which meant much of British comedy came from pointing out class divisions, the inequalities of it and we could laugh at it. Something like Dad’s Army is full of this. Politics was the lifeblood of British comedy along with satire, slapstick and

Now comedy in the UK is dominated by graduates talking about being at university without spotting the irony in doing so. Comedy is dominated by comedians speaking in the same accent, making crap gags about the same things and it’s boring.

The Michael Bay Award For Film of the YearMan of Steel.

Ever wondered how it would be possible to make a worse film than Superman  IV: The Quest for Peace? Man of Steel provided the answer to that question. We need an edgy murdering Superman because that’s what hope is about.

The Rupert Murdoch Award for Journalistic IntegrityThe Guardian’s treatment of Dev Hynes

I outlined recently what happened when The Guardian decided to print an article by one of the Vagenda’s editorial team about crowdsourcing in relation to the fire that destroyed musician Dev Hynes.

In a year when Julie Burchill still writes for newspapers, this managed the amazing task of the worst piece of vile attack hackery disguising itself as journalism I’ve seen. Well, today The Guardian decided to go ahead and print the interview without any mention of the previous article or Hynes saying on Twitter he wants nothing to do with the paper again.

There is however a suitably feeble excuse…

Nuff said.

The Jamie Theakston Award for Worst TV Festival CoverageBBC Three

I love festivals as anyone who’s read through my blogs will have worked out but TV coverage of festivals is always all over the place, but this year BBC Three’s coverage ploughed new depth as they managed to take what was a good year for festivals and concentrate on the same dreary tedious student Indie bands at every festival they covered.

Then there’s presenters so completely lacking in joy, charisma or talent telling us of these bands without joy, charisma or talent that they love.

The Jamie Redknapp Award for Pointless Footballing PunditryMichael Owen.

In the event of a nuclear war all that’s left is the roaches and Michael Owen endlessly talking in a dull monotone to any roach who’d listen about how they all need to do to win football matches is to put the ball in the net.

That’s the future of the human race: Michael Owen endless talking and talking and talking and talking and talking and talking and talking….

The Ray Winstone MassiveTool AwardAlex Ferguson

For decades we’ve had to put up with Ferguson telling us he never held grudges or vendettas. The minute he retires he releases a book outlining the grudges and vendettas he’s held for years.

Tool.

The Partick Thistle Award for The Film Which Should Have Done Better in 2013The World’s End

This was a year of actually some decent films. I saw the splendid Excision which is a lovely mix of Cronenberg and Lynch. Lord of Salem is a ridiculously fun horror film. Pacific Rim is the most fun I’ve had at the cinema in ages but they all have something in common in that they didn’t do as well as they really should have.

The film that should have been fucking enormous is Edgar Wright’s The World’s End.

It did ok, It ticked over but it never hit the heights of success Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead did. That’s a shame because it’s a better film than the other two, and those other two are very good films indeed but without getting too much into spoiler territory here The World’s End isn’t the big obvious fist punching end that many expected it to be.

It’s actually more than that. It’s also a more adult film than I was expecting with the alien plot being something that works well within the main plot of the story of five middle aged men. It’s also very British so that a lot of this will skim over an overseas audience; the wee smile that slips on Paddy Considine’s face when his character hears I’m Free by the Soup Dragons for the first time in decades is something only people who remember a certain time in British popular culture will get, while for everyone else they’ll lose the nuance in that scene which comes early in the film.

See, this is a film for people roughly aged between 40-50. The references in the first 20 minutes or so are things that were unique parts of our youth so that when the film gets to it’s ending it can read as a tragic ending, but I’ll leave plot discussion there. Search the film out or buy it. It’s a fantastic film. It might have helped if it wasn’t released in the middle of summer when we actually had a glorious summer. Ah well…

And finally...

2013 was pretty crap. Sure, some things were fun but it’s been a hard year for not only me, but many people I know and things don’t that much better in 2014. However I’m going to carry on blogging in 2014.

That means my 20 favourite comic book films. My top 20 pop songs. More stuff about politics. A football blog about Scotland’s World Cup send off in 1978. The history of Neptune Comic Distributors. The return of my personal history of Glastonbury Festival. More about the Glasgow comics and SF scene of the 1980’s, and of course porn!

Happy new year!

The Daily Bale Crawls On & On & On

Joshua Bonehill’s lovechild, The Daily Bale has returned in a spewing mess of lies, not to mention the hilarity of Bonehill offering Billy Bragg out for a fight.

Image

So the Daily Bale has been back for a day or two and it’s libeled Billy Bragg, spread more racist lies, and has had more attacks at disabled people. There’s no depths to which Bonehill and his decreasing circle of friends seem able to sink to but although there’s still police action looming, that’s not going to stop them from dishing out threats like this.

Image

That’s another impending police complaint if Wood carries this threat through of course. There’s also a new name to this, one Charlie Fournel who seems to be part of this weird group of fascist freaks.

Anyhow, everyone should know the routine by now. Protest their Facebook page, Their Twitter page and their blog.  Repost blogs such as this reply from Nikki Pilkington to the libel she suffered from them, or this about the abuse that caused the Globe pub in Leicester to close.

The only way to drown these people out is by telling the truth, and doing it in a manner that drowns out their insanity. So spread the word about the lies and let the truth be told.

Inside Tommy Robinson

Tommy Robinson, the leader of the EDL has quit to work with Muslims in order to combat Islamic extremism. He says he’s seen the extremism within his group and how it was veering towards violence and extremism itself, so has consulted with the Quiliam Group in order to work with them. He appears to have found a different way to combat what is a very real threat of Islamic extremism not through violence, intimidation and protests which have often cost cash-strapped councils hundreds of thousands of pounds to police which is a way the EDL have essentially used as a form of blackmail, but through other ways of protest which are more democratic than Tweeting about ‘Muzzys’ and suggesting members take to the street at any opportunity, or even this.

Robinson has told Channel 4 News tonight he postponed leaving the EDL due to the murder of Lee Rigby. Now if one is to assume Robinson, and the EDL’s other leader, Kevin Carroll, have decided that the typical EDL tactics are no more, but Robinson has spent the months since Rigby’s murder whipping up hate against Muslims, starting fights and all manner of things which make my Spidey Sense tingle that perhaps Robinson is trying to stay out of prison for a while, though there’s also a part of me which is hopeful that he’s actually recanted on his past actions that’s only a very, very, very small part and this is about rebranding the EDL, ditching the more hardcore racists and possibly even looking to use this as a platform to launch a political career. After all, it’s hard to be an MP if you’re in prison for racially abusing someone.

There are however six questions posed by Hope not Hate Robinson can answer to see how legitimate he is.

1) Will you accept your role in inciting and fostering anti-Muslim hatred in communities up and down the country?

2) If so, what do you intend to do about it?

3) Do you admit to deliberately conflating Islamist extremism with the faith of Islam to spread an anti-Muslim agenda?

4) If the EDL has been taken over by far right extremists will you name names?

5) Will you reveal the names of the EDL funders?

6) Will you renounce your past links and speak out against Pam Geller and Robert Spencer?

He answers all of those then, and only then, I’ll be convinced he’s a changed man and this isn’t a stunt. Til then we can all watch EDL supporters tear themselves apart online as they all flail around hopelessly working out what to do next.
